Cave Story buttons
A little while back I got a special request through my Etsy shop to make a set of pinback buttons of characters from the beloved independent game Cave Story. I was happy to oblige. This is a game I’ve been eager to play ever since I learned of its existence. When I bought my crappy DS flash cart it was to play Cave Story1 first. I never did get that to work, and at the time it was only available for Windows machines. I’ll get around to playing it though.
My customer chose Quote, Sue, Curly Brace, Hajime (or any of the dogs), and Misery. Because they’re mostly off-white in color, and because the game is called Cave Story I thought I’d better do something about the color of the fabric I stitched them on. I dyed some 22-count Aida a dark navy blue. Perhaps a bit too dark, but for the most part I think they turned out great.
1 See, at one point it was going to be ported to Nintendo DS, unofficially. This project has been abandoned. Likely to not piss of Nintendo because it is supposed to be delivered on WiiWare sometime this year. Hopefully.

What kind of dye did you use? I have such a hard time finding 22-count in anything but white and the occasional pastel. I worry that my sweaty paws would make dyed canvas tough to work with though.
