Dragon Warrior monsters cross stitch 16: Wyvern

The Wyvern is a sort of baby dragon (or some distant dragon relative in any regard). He’s a bit mixed up from the typical wyvern found in heraldry in as much as his head is very distinctly birdlike and he has no clawed legs nor any legs at all. This raises some troubling questions vis a vis the Wyvern’s lifestyle and bodily functions.

This monster, like the Slime and Drakee has survived to the current generation of Dragon Quest games with very little change in appearance. Like those monsters, he has become something of a mascot. He has, however, suffered a name change. In keeping with the fairly recent decision to standardize the names of monsters and abilities across nations (or something of that nature) the Wyvern as you see above is now known as the Chimaera, which makes no god damn sense from a mythological perspective.
