Druinlord – Dragon Warrior monsters – 20/40

The Druinlord, another curious tentacled beastie, is a stronger Druin. Just like his little brother he hangs around in caves.

The color scheme of the Druinlord, with the body being a dark red (or Very Dark Raspberry in DMC terms) reminds me of something from my childhood. When coloring or drawing with crayons I tended to skip the bright standard red and go straight to the Brick Red. Brick Red was my “go to” red. Invariably, it was this one crayon that was blunted more considerably than any other color. I’d like to imagine this preference indicated that even as a small child I saw the world through a more mature lens, but it probably just meant I liked the color.

Colors used (DMC)

  • 310 – Black
  • 580 – Dark Moss Green
  • 777 – Very Dark Raspberry
  • 3839 – Medium Lavender Blue
  • 3842 – Dark Wedgwood
  • 3843 – Electric Blue
  • BLANC – White

Hey, it’s me again. I went to the store today to pick up the full range of colors you’ve listed in your projects of DW monsters but was unable to find 777 (very dark raspberry) and 3899 (medium lavender blue). Do you know if these two have been discontinued? The DMC website isn’t making this easy to find out. >_<

Geez. I don’t know. I looked at a couple of lists and 777 isn’t listed. I didn’t find 3899 either, but looks like “medium lavender blue” is actually 3839. Every time I go to the craft store I end up coming home without at least one color I needed too.

So, they may well have discontinued 777, which is kind of a shame because I really liked it as I mentioned in this very post. You could probably do just fine with any other dark red. 815 maybe? Or 304? (I’m guessing a bit here.)

You actually bought every single color? Wow. That sounds like a big step. Oh wait, I did that too.

Oh. HA! Looks like I just miswrote that one, then. ::face/palm:: That sucks that they discontinued that one. Must have been recently, too. :(

But yeah. I went through all your DW monsters and wrote down all the colors and made a big shopping list and everything! And just looking at the ones you haven’t finished yet, it looks like you’d just be reusing the same colors so there wouldn’t be any surprises. (…right? o__O)
