Dragon Warrior monsters cross stitch 22: Drollmagi

Deep within the unlit caves and dungeons of the Dragon Warrior world this creature, the Drollmagi, leads his children to greatness as only he can imagine. In their fetid chambers, littered with animal carcasses, pungent molds, and other rustic divination implements they and the other Drolls chant in their low, monosyllabic voices. Stirred by their droning chorus, the other underground beasts skirt furtively through the shadows. The Droll chants make them nervous.

When I look at this guy I imagine an entire level of complexity unmentioned in the rather simplistic story of the Dragon Warrior game. He’s the Drollmagi and he shares the slackjawed look of the Droll. His name leads me to believe he’s a leader of some sort. Yet, I also get the sense that he’s still dumber than a bag of misshapen rocks.

I love this monster. I love him for the little story he puts in my head when I play Dragon Warrior, a game which gives you little more direction than “Go save the world, also the princess.”
