Demon Knight – Dragon Warrior monsters – 27/40
A skeleton so evil he’s entirely black. Or is he a shadow? I don’t really know, but I always thought he was pretty badass. It seemed a pretty bold move to color a dude entirely black. I suppose by the time Dragon Warrior was released in North America I had probably played Zelda II as it’d come out nearly a year previous and featured a duel with “Link’s Shadow” who is also an entirely black version of another character. I remember this Demon Knight much more vividly, but that’s probably because I was never any good at Zelda II.
The stitching of this particular monster presented a dilemma. All previous monsters have been stitched with black outlines. These outlines do not appear in the game as all the fights occur against a backdrop or on an entirely black screen. Outlines were a necessity if I wanted some of these monsters to show up on the white fabric I had. A dark monster such as this doesn’t require an outline, but every other monster I’ve stitched has one. For consistency I decided to add a superfluous outline to the Demon Knight and the end result is he looks a bit puffy.
Oh well.
310 – Black
This is a pretty lame character I think, just a blackened version of a standard skeleton sprite.
I remember first fighting these fools. Oh man did they used to kick my ass. These guys made the run to Rimuldar such hell but my God did I feel good once I was able to run about slaughtering them with reckless abandon.
Realized I screwed up my town names. I always seem to get Cantlin and Rimuldar confused. I guess I need to play through this game again :X I meant to say the run to Cantlin, not Rimuldar. My Bad.
I think Dragon Warrior is one of the best games ever made… This stich is great… I will never forget how many times that demon killed me, and how freaked i got when one poped up =]
Pure terror.
