Ness needlepoint (Banana flavor)

Ness, the lead hero of EarthBound, comes from the small town of Onett where he leads a presumably normal and uneventful life until a meteor falls near his home, bring a time-traveler with dire news from 10 years in the future: The world is to be conquered by interstellar baddy Giygas if Ness doesn’t do something to stop him. And, being the lead character in this game, does exactly that.
In his quest to thwart Giygas, Ness does not acquire mystic swords and armor. Instead he employs a range of baseball bats and yo-yos and protects himself with ballcaps and t-shirts. Plus he has some psychic powers at his disposal, including one that you as the player get to name yourself.
Ness here is done on plastic canvas in the mosaic stitch. The sprites in EarthBound are intentionally simple so I opted to use the larger stitch. This is my first attempt at a multi-colored background. It’s “Banana flavor.” When starting the game you are given the choice between five different “flavors” of text boxes: Plain, Banana, Strawberry, Peanut, and Mint. He’s the first in a series of the four heroes. Each one has a different “flavor” of background.
