Sad iPod

In honor of my iPod Beren and his four years of loyal service I present the cross stitch of a screen I hope you never have the misfortune of seeing. This is what I see when I start my 4G iPod after a series of agonized clicks as the hard drive attempts to spin up. It’s a pretty bad sign.

If there’s a silver lining, it is this: the death of this iPod allows me to pick up a brand new iPhone upon arrival on the 11th of July (pending availability). In addition, in a perverse way I’m almost pleased to be able to see this icon. It’s just so terribly cute. My hats off to the iPod designers for using such an adorable picture to represent such a catastrophic failure.
