Sausage needlepoint (from BurgerTime)

Sausage from BurgerTime

Sausage from BurgerTime needlepoint

I’m trying something a little new. Inspired by the beauty of OneChordWonder’s video game needlepoints I’ve decided to give them a shot. Thankfully, she’d provided a helpful tutorial to steer me on the correct path. Here you see my very first attempt, which didn’t turn out too badly.

I chose the Sausage from BurgerTime, the classic arcade game about dropping pieces of hamburger down stairs. I haven’t seen a glut of BurgerTime related crafts and it’s just about the weirdest damned game ever made. He’s a bit duller than I’d like, and I’m not so sure about that gray, but other than that I’m quite pleased. I’d planned to do the Pickle and the Egg, but now I’m not so sure I care.

Needlepoint is a bit different than cross stitch. It uses the same thread, but a whole different batch of stitches. Also, it’s done on plastic canvas rather than fabric.

Looks great to me.

And needlepoint can be done on fabric as well, and it usually is, I believe. I just find plastic more forgiving when it comes to the background stitches.

Actually one of my goals is to create a pillow out of a videogame needlepoints on of these days. I just need to learn how to use my sewing machine.
