Wedding photos on Flickr
Dec 05 06I’ve finally finished uploading our wedding photos to Flickr. They’ve been added to our group pool, along with some of the photos from our friends. We’re still hoping other folks will post their photos in the group pool soon. Keep an eye on the group if you’re interested.
I felt I needed to take down the Flickr badge until I could get a handle on how to insert it without completely destroying the validation. I’ll get one made that doesn’t have some many naughty hacks in it as soon as I style it properly.
Democracy!
Nov 07 06Virginian voters, I can’t say that I’m surprised at you. A little disappointed, but I never had my hopes up too high that you might not be swayed by homophobia. As has been widely reported, the wording of this amendment is so unneccesarily draconian as to threaten partnerships both homosexual and heterosexual. The text of our new amendment is as follows:
“That only a union between one man and one woman may be a marriage valid in or recognized by this Commonwealth and its political subdivisions.
“This Commonwealth and its political subdivisions shall not create or recognize a legal status for relationships of unmarried individuals that intends to approximate the design, qualities, significance, or effects of marriage. Nor shall this Commonwealth or its political subdivisions create or recognize another union, partnership, or other legal status to which is assigned the rights, benefits, obligations, qualities, or effects of marriage.”
At least it looks like you all did not allow macaca to serve another term. Whether this puts a quash on his presidential aspirations remains to be seen.
Oh, and Rick Santorum lost! How fucking awesome is that?
I done got myself hitched.
Nov 06 06I’m a married man as of a little over a week ago. Apologies for the posting delay. I’ve been busying myself with organizing all of our PH4T L00TZ and whatall. There’s a heap in the second bedroom, and many items have no particular place to live unfortunately.
Married life suits me, I think. I’m enjoying the use of the word “wife” in lieu of girlfriend. Such as, “I need to deposit this check for my wife” or “My wife might actually play this Wii.” It has a much more welcoming tone than the previous descriptives. Fiance never really suited me at all, aside from the few times I mispronounced it Raising Arizona style as “FIE-ance.”
We’re still waiting on photos. Once those are in we’ll get a Flickr thing going. Oh, and I’ll get around to doing something a little different with the wedding site too.
We are bigger nerds than you (are nerds)
Aug 16 06The wedding juggernaut lumbers on, all but wholly destroying my interest in traditional internet related pursuits. This site, and ironically the wedding site as well, are the casualities of this obsession. It happens.
Amazingly, we have suffered precious few setbacks in our planning. I suppose it makes the entire process easier when you don’t have any princesses in the mix and don’t attempt to micro-manage every aspect of your celebration. Maybe we’re just good at it.
There has been one rather expensive change of plans. I’m convinced it will be for the best, because as the title indicates it will cement our nerdiness against all doubters and naysayers. It involves the rings. We have already purchased rings. Bought with the spoils of my recent eBay closet cleaning I had selected two matching titanium rings that we rather liked. However, after the order complications arose.
Concerns about the resiliency against attempts to resize the bands coupled with an overall lack of personalization in these bands left a poor taste in Staci’s mouth. She wanted something more. We aim to retun out titanium rings for gold ones. Not just any gold rings though. They will be special rings. . . engraved with this:

Edited 08/29/2006: Finally remembered to upload the proper inscription and typeface.
I’m no Sindarin scholar, but I’m pretty confident that I’ve made a passable translation. What it says is:
emel nín cirban lín
rancin nín bar lín
Edited 08/23/2006: I found a better glossary and realized I had used the wrong word for “heart.” Here’s the new quote:
hûn nín cirban lín
rancin nín bar lín
In the common tongue:
my heart is your shelter
my arms are your home
This is a quote modified from a set of vows Staci found online (I don’t have a link) that we both rather liked. One line of inscription will go on each ring so together they will spell out the full passage.
See? Bigger nerds. My apologies. We’re just better at it than you are.
I got a call from LEGO last week.
Jul 19 06Some time last week I got a call from the LEGO Consumer Services division. I had been making a short list in my head about possible cake toppers for, you know, the wedding when I came across something in a photo set on Flickr that I knew I just had to have. So, I wrote them a letter and last week I got a call.
He was just calling to let me know that the cake topper is a special gift to their core LEGO fans and wanted to know what color I would like the base in. I chose red, for reasons that will become obvious to anyone attending the event or viewing the photos. Yay LEGO!
Unused, but by no means rejected, cake topper ideas:
- Fisher-Price Little People
- Han Solo & Princess Leia
- Rosie the Riveter & (undecided)
